Special Rules
THE X-POINT PLAY :
At the end of the game, if a team is losing by more than 8 points, they are automatically awarded an 'X-Point Play' on the very final play of the game. It is usually in the form of a "fifth down", or a conversion after touchdown. The X-Point Play is worth however many points it takes to tie the ball game.
Time-outs:
teams have ONE time-out per half to plan a complicated play, manage the clock in the last two minutes of the first half etc. Injury stoppages don't count as a time-out.
Team captains:
Each team has a team captain. The two captains will confer with each other and the Commissioner on controversial situations. If the two captains cannot agree on a course of action, the Commissioner will rule on the play.
Uneven teams:
In the event that teams have unequal numbers the following rules apply:
- The team with the extra player must have one extra (completely ineligible) lineman on all offensive plays. This player can not receive any pass ever.
- The team with the extra player must send in enough extra blitzers so as to expose the exact number of defenders against the exact number of eligible receivers (five, maximum).
- The quarterback on the team with the extra player must wait before the defense crosses the line to run downfield. If teams are 4 vs. 5 or 5 vs. 6, the quarterback on the team with the extra player cannot cross the line of scrimmage ever.
